Wow

I totally forgot that I created a blog. I'm sitting here in employment discrimination and I remembered. So much has happened since I wrote my last blog. I mean I think the last thing I Wrote about was Superman Returns. I have so many great experiences since then and have completely changed my life. I am 7 months from taking the bar and hopefully 10 months from being admitted to the bar, Alex Rodriguez just admitted to Steroid Use, and the Boston Celtics are the World Champs again and they hope to repeat.

The first thing I would like to discuss is A-Rod. He did the correct thing by finally coming clean. The next step is to just release every single name that tested positive and move on with baseball. I also believe that Cooperstown should open an asterisk wing because everyone in this era dabbled with steroids and since everyone did it, they should all be judged against each other. However, since their stats will be so skewed, they should not be compared with the all time greats who were clean. For example, Arod on Performance enhancers averaged 10 more home runs a year and a higher slugging percentage. If he was clean every other year (I doubt he was), then his numbers would be significantly less. You are looking at possibly 100 homers less which makes it less likley he would reach and break Hank Aaron's record. I still beleive Hank Aaron is the leader, and not Bonds. Bonds should be the first or second inductee (maybe MacGuire should be first) into the asterisk section of the Hall of Fame. If everyone comes clean, an asterisk section is created in the Hall of Fame, baseball can come clean, baseball can move on and hopefully establish a new era in baseball where people will no longer have to be skeptical if someone posts obscene numbers.

Future Sex/Love Sound and Team USA

I will first talk about somethign positive. A few years ago, Justin Timberlake released Justified and to everyone's surprised it was a fantastic album. It had catchy dance tunes, some wonderful ballads and a tremendous diss to Brittany White Trash Spears.

In a couple of weeks his second album Future Sex/Love Sounds is goingto be released. Now I know a lot of people do not like the first single SexyBack. It took me a while to come to a decision, but I like it. I also have the album. I hate to say it because I still can't believe it, but it is the album of the year. Every song is fantastic. When people here Sexy Ladies, which calls directly to Prince of 1982, or Love Stoned which had one of the best transitions I've heard in years they will freak. The sequencing on the album is flawless. Every song is great or really close to being great. Justin formed a production team with Timbaland and they mesh nicely together. People will say it's all Timbo, but these are Justin's songs and Timbo fleshed them out and gave them life. I don't want to go into it too much, but Justin goes from being a Pop star to an artist on this album It is refreshing. If he keeps this up, I will no longer be embarrased to say he is making good albums. How can you hate good music?

Now onto the Bad. Team USA. They lost to Greece last night. Why? Because they can not hit 3 pointers. The entire team is once again composed of cutters and slashers. Why isn't Michael Redd on the team, or even Adam Morrison. Evne though I hate him, JJ Reddick shouldbe on the team. USA needs someone who can hit a 3pt shot consistantly. The international game is a game of skill, not athleticism. USA losing goes to show fundamentals, most import the ability to shoot the ball can take you a long way. The team also consists of young guys who don't know how to win. Do you think Jordan, Magic, and Bird would EVER let anyone beat them? They would rather kill their own mothers than lose. Coach K, PUT A 3 PT SHOOTER on the team who has icewater running htrough is veins. Give me a call I'm available....

Back from the Absence

Sorry for taking so long to write a new blog. Work and life have been crazy. I just found a dull moment and decided to post. I am just going to post random thoughts.

Robin Thicke is the Truth. He has matured as a song writer. I can't wait until his album is officially released. His music has kind of matured into a new age Michael Jackson Sound.

The biggest surprise of all is Back to Basics by Christina Aguilera. I hated her in the past, but she brings the goods on her new album. 23 songs, I like every one. The jazz songs are really special. When it is released go check it out.

I have officially decided women are crazy, and have no rational thought process. It took 29 years, but I have seen the light.

Work Sucks, I'm glad I'm in school and hopefully one day I will do something I like.

Layoffs suck. My company is rumored to go through a huge one soon. I feel like I am going to be the last man standing.

Going to the beach is overrated. The only good thing about it is the hot girls, and when you are with a hot girl, it's harder to enjoy. If you are on a private beach with all old people, it's even worse.

There is nothing better than sitting on the couch and relaxing. Doing nothing. I like to do nothing. Maybe it's because I"m always busting my ass.

I feel like people who don't bust their ass are always bored...hmmm.

I am always hungry. I can eat al day long. At least I look good.

Will the Celtics ever be good again? I can only hope.

My favorite movie of the summer really was Superman Returns.

Why has Prince been so Boring latley? I guess he's getting old. Where is the tour?

J Dilla Soulful genius is a great collection of every track he produced. RIP

I think Justin Timberlake's album will either be amazing or an abslute flop. It seems like he is trying to do something different. I hope it pans out. People who do different things are shunned in the record business now, and we rarely see artits. I have a feeling he has a need to be an artist. But who am I to say?

I am not impresed by Outkast's new songs. Every album sounded so incredibly different and so far this one sounds really dull. I hope I am wrong.

Ok those are my uneventful thoughts. Till next time

Pirates of disappointment

I really loved the first Pirates of the Caribbean. I rarely buy DVD's, but I purchased it. I loved the story, the special effects and I thought Johnny Depp created one of the best characters ever to be shown on the silver screen. I was tremendously excited for the sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: The Dead Man's Chest. Early reviews on Ain't it Cool News said it was great. I was really excited. It broke box office records in its first week, but some reviews said it wasn't that great. I still had my hopes up. I trust AICN more than anything else. So on Saturday I went to see it.

I was extremely disappointed. Depp didn't seem to have the same love of the character as he did in the first movie. Jack Sparrow, or should I say Captain Jack Sparrow did not exude the same coolness he did in the first movie. Orlando Bloom I could take him or leave him and Kerr Knightly was very nice to look at and she had the most interesting story by movie's end.

I love when I watch a movie and feel like I was there for five minutes. Batman Begins made me feel that way, Superman Returns did as well. Pirates, well I just kept thinking to myself will this movie EVER END? The Special effects were great I will give them that. The action sequences were too drawn out creating little suspense. Even when the Black Pearl was being attacked by the Kraken, I was happy because the movie as almost over, and not that these characters are in a life or death situation. Not good.

When the movie FINALLY ended about 30 minutes later with a cliff hanger, everyone got up and left. They were all quiet. It seemed like the movie drained the life out of everyone. I was really let down. Especially after seeing Superman 2 weeks earlier and witnessing a standing ovation when the movie ended. You could feel the love of the movie in the theatre. There was no love for Pirates. I'm shocked it is still doing so well. It's a shame Superman isn't making the ridiculous amount of money. It is an infinitely better movie.

Will I see the 3rd movie? Yes, but only because I've invested time in the first 2. I am not expecting a good movie. I just hope it's better than the 3rd Matrix movie.... At least Spiderman and Transformers are coming out next summer.

Superman returns Post

On my recent trip out to California I was able to catch Superman Returns. I really liked this movie, but I didn't love it. I thought Lex Luthor's plot was silly although Kevin Spacey was awesome as Lex. The Best part of the movie, bar none was Brandon Routh. He IS Superman. He played Superman with a weight that Christopher Reeves didn't. I know many will say I speak blashphem, but it is what it is. Prime example is when Reeve's Superman saved people and went to tell his father how great it felt, he almost seemed like a whiny nerd baby. Routh's Superman soaks up the attention, but does so with a quiet confidence. Routh's Superman is more mature and comfortable with his power. He also plays Superman as an outsider, an alien, something you don't get with Reeve's Superman. Reeve's Clark Kent is better, because he has better comedic timing, but Routh held his own.

Mardsen was great as Lois' new love interest, and in a way he was his own Superman. Willing to risk life and limb to save his life, and in the end Superman's life. It will be interesting how the relationships play out in the next films.

The only weak link in the movie was Kate Bosworth. I didn't believe she was Lois. I didn't believe she won a Pulitzer, I didn't believe she was a reporter.

Now on to the kid. I like the fact the Superman left to find home, only to ultimately discover home was right on the planet earth. He has a son. I like how the ending played out. You could see how happy Superman was that he has a son. How will this work in the next film? I don't know, maybe make Braniac the bad guy, have Lex kidnap the kid, and brainwash him against Superman. That might make an interesting story.

Overall, Superman was a really good, close to great movie. I felt like I was watching a classic. When the credits rolled, the audience gave it a standing ovation. I'm looking forward to see what happens next. Mr. Singer, you have never made a bad movie and I applaud you for it.

Next stop the Caribbean so I can meet up with pirates......

Superman Returns Countdown

I watched Superman last night. What a wonderfully done movie. I am now officially excited for Superman Returns. The early buzz is it's a wonderful movie. I don't doubt it. I have liked all of Bryan Singer's movies. He wanted this movie done right and he has probably done it. Even though I am a Batman person now, when I was a kid I loved Superman. My mom dyed underwear and tights for me so I could be Superman. I used to wear my superman shirt everywhere. I wanted to be him. Batman doesn't make me feel like a kid. I love Batman because it's dark, real, gritty. I'm hoping to go into Superman and smile and act like the 5 year old kid that pretended to fly around the house. From what I can tell it will happen. In the meantime I will be watching Justice League Season 1 and 2. Pick them up. Sorry for the ramble, I'm just excited

Nelly Furtado- Loose

I got my hands on the European version of Nelly's new album and it has two bonus tracks. Before I start talking about the good, I will get the bad out of the way. I loved Nelly's first 2 albums, and this album sounds like the record company said give us a hit or we will drop you. It sounds like she is going after Gwen Stefani's audience. Not a bad thing, but to me it's not Nelly. I really dug what she dig with Folklore and on first listen this album is quite a shocker because it is so Radio friendly.

Now the Good. The Album BUMPS. The bass is so heavy you feel it in your chest. Most of the album is produced my Timberland and it shows. The first track Afraid is a standout track with a wonderful synth line, ManEater is crazy. Nelly is rapping and singing. The first time I heard it I didn't know what to think but it has grown on me. Everyone has heard Promiscuous so I won't say anything. there is a dish of some Portugese on here which really is catchy. Showtime is a great ballad that shows her song writing capability. The 2 stand out track are Do it which sounds like late 80's Madonna and Timbo really outdid himself on the production side, and all good things a bittersweet song about how the best things in life come to an end. The two bonus tracks are interesting. Let My Hair Down sounds like she was just being silly, but there is an awesome beat and bassline in the song and Somebody to love is a nice fun typical Timberland track.

The album is probably stuff Aaliyah would be doing now if she didn't die, but with better songwirting. That is what makes this stand out from all other Timberland projects. Nelly is a tremendous songwriter. She may be going after Gwen's audience, and she may take it because her album is far more consitant and enjoyable. It's Nelly's party and everyone is invited.
